Hydrogen

Welcome to RCL, a trusted name in the trading of high-quality CNG, industrial, fire-fighting cylinders, and cascades of various capacities. With a strong commitment to quality and safety, RCL operates with the highest standards in the industry.

However, hydrogen can cause embrittlement, necessitating careful consideration of the materials used in containment to prevent hydrogen-induced cracking. Over the years, RCL has adhered to established principles by using steels with a tensile strength limited to a maximum of 950 MPa for cylinders with working pressures around 250 bar. RCL also conducts a range of non-destructive tests to ensure the absence of any harmful imperfections that could lead to premature failure. For high-pressure fuel gas applications, which can reach around 1000 bar, RCL has established a high-pressure hydrogen research facility in Cividale, Italy. This facility is dedicated to ensuring the safety of materials used in RCL’s seamless (Type 1) hydrogen cylinders. RCL also specializes in designing and engineering cylinder integration solutions, including Racks, Bundles, Multi Element Gas Containers, and Containers, to provide comprehensive, ready-to-use storage systems.
Members of RCL’s Technical Department actively participate in several European hydrogen initiatives, including the Storhy and Hycomp projects.
RCL’s hydrogen cylinders are utilized globally across various storage applications by a diverse range of customers. As the only worldwide manufacturer of all four types 1 of hydrogen cylinders and systems, our customers employ them in static storage, industrial applications, refilling stations, fuel cell operations, and transportation, among others. A unique feature of RCL’s offerings is the in-house fabrication of not only the cylinder shells but also the liners for all types of composite cylinders. Depending on their intended use, RCL provides cylinders capable of handling working pressures from the standard 200 bar for industrial applications to 1100 bar for high-pressure storage, complying with a broad spectrum of manufacturing standards and regulations.
For any hydrogen-related application, RCL offers a comprehensive range of cylinder types to meet diverse needs, making us your all-in-one supplier.
